Do you want to know where your customers are and what they are looking at? Do you want to offer your customers additional purchase incentives that are precisely tailored to their location or measure the success of your marketing campaign on the basis of the foot traffic at the point of sale?
Based on our many years of experience with beacon technology, we know all the advantages but also the disadvantages of this technology. The determination of positions succeeds without great technical effort in the range of a few meters. The results can be improved by using many beacons, but this increases the effort and the technical risks.
In particular, our customers’ requirements for a technically stable and harmless solution in sensitive environments such as hospitals, as well as for a highly accurate yet easy-to-integrate solution in areas such as retail, provided the impetus to launch a new innovation. We learned from nature and are equipping apps with a bat brain. This allows us to use ultrasound for location and navigation. The precision of tracking allows us to meet all the requirements that customers have ever asked us.
Compared to other alternatives such as radio or light signals, the use of sound signals allows us to achieve positioning accuracies in the centimeter range without being noticed by people or interfering with other radio-based devices. In addition, ultrasonic signals can be received by almost any smartphone or tablet, and infrastructure setup is done in much the same way as with our Bluetooth-based SpotterBee software.
Therefore, ultrasound-based tracking is the ideal solution for providers who want to offer high-precision navigation to their visitors and, in turn, obtain meaningful movement patterns and analysis. Likewise, users experience a completely new level of location accuracy with this technology, which can create a variety of new service offerings and optimize existing ones. This opinion is shared by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, which is funding the development as part of a ZIM (Central Innovation Program for SMEs) project.
